The Latino Studies Program is committed to diversity in all its forms.
A commitment to diversity and inclusion is not just a part of our mission, but is constitutive of what we do and how we approach our field. Our communities come from a range of ethnic, racial, national, gendered, and class backgrounds.
The “Latino” in our program name is itself a reference to the heterogeneous experiences that collectively form our communities, and it signals an appreciation of difference that is fundamental to educating our students and each other.
We value diversity because it better helps us understand our world, and produces a richer, more thorough and comprehensive account of the complexity of our world.
We strive to include attention to diversity at every level of our program: from classes and content, to faculty and student recruitment, to events and campus activity.
