The Latino Studies Program is happy to announce that we are now accepting submissions for the 2020-2021 Luis Dávila Student Competition for Best Essay on Latinx Literature, Arts and Culture.

The Dávila Award will be given for the best essay on any aspect of Latinx expressive culture, including literature, language, history, music, folklore, visual and performing arts, cinema, and journalism. There are two competitions, one for undergraduate and one for graduate students.
Submissions may be in English, Spanish, Portuguese, or any combination of these languages.
Please submit a cover sheet and your essay as separate PDF attachments in a single email to the Latino Studies Program: latino@indiana.edu.
The subject line should read: “Graduate/Undergraduate Essay Competition"
Submission 2021”File names should read: “LastNameGrad.pdf” or “LastNameUndergrad.pdf”
Your cover sheet should include the following six pieces of information:
Essays should not exceed 3,000 words (5,000 for graduate essays) in length, including notes, and be double-spaced, 1-inch margins, paginated, 12-point font. MLA, APA, or discipline appropriate citations accepted.
